BLACKFOOT – When Kaden and Julie Bench opened an online clothing business in 2018, they hoped to capitalize on their collective knowledge of business management and fashion to create a product that consumers love.

The couple designed KJ’s dresses and ties. They had married the previous year and both had served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Having made a habit of wearing costumes and beautiful clothes, they decided that clothes were a place where they could leave their mark.

Now they are taking this business online and opening a storefront in Blackfoot called Tilden Co.

“We were always talking to friends and it’s always so hard to find (modest) clothes so we figured it was something we could do,” Julie told EastIdahoNews.com. “It was a place we thought we could experience and not lose too much if it failed totally.”

Their idea turned out to be a success and the business continued to grow and evolve.

Tilden Co. opens Friday at 1350 Parkway Drive, Suite 1A next to Zions Bank. While online services will continue to be available, Julie says having a physical location will allow them to be more versatile and better serve the region.

“We’re trying to focus more on what the community wants,” says Julie. “Our goal is to provide clothing that makes every woman confident… and to provide more casual clothing. “

Tilden Co., named after a bridge in Pingree, offers jeans, shirts, dresses, skirts, shorts, swimwear, sweaters, cardigans and more. A small selection of ties is also available for men.

Julie hopes the name change will help them connect more with the locals.

She hopes the business will continue to grow and that they would eventually like to move to a larger building. They would also like to be able to give back to the community someday.

“We would love to have the means to offer scholarships and donations (to worthy causes) and to be an integral part of the Blackfoot community,” she said.

Tilden Co. will have a smooth opening this Friday. A grand opening will take place on October 19, with discounts available to select customers throughout the week and raffle prizes including gift cards to other businesses in the city.

The business hours will be Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit the website or Facebook page for more information.
