The Book Cellar will reopen on Friday after an 18-month closure due to the coronavirus.
Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The second-hand bookstore is located in the basement of the Central Library, 600 Soledad St.
Friends of the San Antonio Public Library, a non-profit organization founded in 1964, operates the BookCellar to raise funds for the benefit of the public library. A wide selection of printed books for adults, children and teens is available, as well as books on CDs, DVDs, magazines, music CDs, vintage books and vinyl albums.

The nonprofit turned to online sales when COVID security protocols caused the store to close in March 2020. The BookCellar, mostly run by volunteers, plans to continue internet sales at https://tinyurl.com/FOSAPLBookCellar.
The Used Bookstore has supported the library through fundraisers such as the sale of library books and activities that include recognition and training of library staff, the summer reading program and the Annual San Antonio Book Festival presented by the San Antonio Public Library Foundation.
