Largs – Preview of the new Marks and Spencer food store VIDEO

Exciting plans have been unveiled for a new multi-million pound Marks & Spencer at Largs that would generate around 50 jobs.

The envelopes were removed from an M&S grocery store project for 123-125 Main Street to replace the Pearson of Largs showroom and base for architectural firm Stewart Associates.
All jobs will be retained by Pearson, which is expanding to Wemyss Bay, and Stewart Associates, which will move to new premises in Largs.
An urban planning application is due for the M&S grocery store later this month, finally marking the end of a 15-year search for suitable premises in the city by the national chain.
The new retail project is being brought forward by Westquarter Developments, with Neighbors Notification Notices released last week – the video above gives an idea of what to expect.
A spokesperson said: “We have worked in partnership with the landowners, Pearson Suzuki and Stewart Associates, and are delighted to confirm our intention to make a detailed planning request for an M&S Foodhall outlet on the site of the Pearson Suzuki’s existing showroom and repair business and offices occupied by Stewart Associates.
“The development will include a modern contemporary style retail unit which will be operated by M&S as one of its very popular Foodhall format outlets.
“The site is very central in the defined city center and Largs shopping area and is easily accessible by all modes of travel.
“The proposed development will complement and add significantly to the city’s retail and other attractions.
“It will be a real asset for the city center and its existing businesses.
“M&S Foodhalls has a wide range of premium, fresh and prepackaged foods complemented by flowery produce, newspapers and greeting cards, and that will be the planned store in Largs. “
The plan includes dedicated parking up front and a separate service yard to the side, both accessed through a new entry and exit junction on Main Street.
The developers added, “The proposed development is a unique and very exciting scheme for Largs and M&S.
“The location right in the heart of downtown Largs means that the new store has the potential to provide a significant range of retail, downtown investment and economic benefits for the city and its residents. . ”
