Mary Means Business: Opening of a children’s clothing store in the former Rae building

Kidentifiers grow very quickly.

Kaylie Gibson always hated buying cute kids’ clothes at a high price just to get her kids to grow up before the year is out.

This problem led Gibson, along with his mother, to form Kid’s Cavern Clothing Company.

“It’s always difficult to find reasonably priced children’s clothing,” Gibson said. “We wanted to open a store for everyone where clothes are not that expensive.

Gibson plans to open its downtown store by October at 110 Fifth St. S., formerly Rae’s Jewelry. While some details are still pending, Gibson said she intends to stay open after 5 p.m. to help accommodate working families.

“It’s a family business,” Gibson said. “… We are delighted to bring this to the community. I am a big fan of family affairs and local shopping. We’re just excited to bring this here to Columbus.

Gibson added that she’s still working on Kid’s Cavern’s social media, but be sure to check out our new clothing store’s social media once they go live.

Moving to Starkville, we have a new nail salon.

Villa Nails Bar and Spa, 327 Hwy. 12 W., open end of July.

The nail salon next to Umi offers manicures, pedicures, body waxing and even has two body massage stations.

“This isn’t your average nail salon,” said salon manager Hailey Elkins. “We want people to give us a chance. Our prices are a bit higher, but the quality of the work is worth it.

The Villa Nails bar and spa is open by appointment and without appointment Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. As a special opening, the nail salon is also offering a 20% discount until August 13.

Also in Starkville there is a new martial arts venue.

Fearless Martial Arts opened this month at 821C Hwy. 12, next to China Garden.

The martial arts gymnasium is open Monday through Friday from 2 to 7:30 p.m. This is the second location of owner Josh Buford, the first being open in Mathiston.

“My family and I are more than thrilled and blessed to have the opportunity to serve families here in Starkville,” said Buford. “If there is anything we can do for you, your child or your family: please contact us. ”

Fearless Martial Arts offers martial arts classes for children, self-defense for adults, and fitness classes for children and adults.

At 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays, kids ages 3 and up can practice for free with real Power Rangers. Make sure to register online and check out Fearless Martial Arts on Facebook for more information.

We complete the Golden Triangle with West Point.

Drive-thru Checkers are coming to town. In fact, you might have noticed a build, but if you blinked, you probably missed it. The West Point Checkers location was built from a pre-fabricated module, meaning construction on the restaurant began on Wednesday and will be nearing completion at time of printing.

The restaurant at 230 US 45 Alt. should be open by September.

This is the first Checkers built in our area and owner Sedrick Turner’s fifth location in Mississippi.

The restaurant at the wheel will be open Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.
